Do You Remember Singing This as a Child?
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart!”
If you sang that as a child—with motions and all—you probably did it with a big smile and unshakable enthusiasm. But as adults, life often steals that childlike joy.
Everywhere we look—at work, in our communities, on TV, and across social media—we’re flooded with conflict, hatred, anger, jealousy, destruction, and despair. It’s easy to feel hopeless and lose sight of the joy we once knew.
But God hasn’t changed. And neither has His promise.
God’s Light Still Shines
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:14-16
God calls us to be lights in a dark world. That doesn’t mean we have to be perfect—but we do need to focus on Him, especially when everything around us feels heavy. He tells us to fix our eyes on the narrow road that leads to eternal life (Matthew 7:13-14) and to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5).
When you’re feeling weary, overwhelmed, or hopeless, it’s time for a REAL Reset.
R.E.A.L. Reset
R – Reframe Your Thoughts
Don’t let the world define your peace—let God restore it. Start with repentance. Let go of thoughts or habits that keep you distant from Christ.
“The heart is deceitful above all things… I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind…”
— Jeremiah 17:9-10
📌 Everyday Example:
Instead of thinking, “I’ll never be good enough,” try “God’s grace is enough for me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
E – Examine Your Heart
Ask God to help you look inward honestly and clearly.
“Search me, God, and know my heart… see if there is any offensive way in me.”
— Psalm 139:23-24
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
— Proverbs 4:23
📌 Everyday Example:
Take a moment before bed to reflect: What emotions or thoughts today pulled me away from God?
A – Appreciate the Good
Gratitude shifts your perspective. Be content with what God has already given.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:18
📌 Everyday Example:
Keep a small gratitude journal. Write 3 things each day that you’re thankful for, no matter how small.
L – Live and Walk in Faith, Peace, and Joy
When you do a REAL Reset, joy returns—not just fleeting happiness, but lasting peace and contentment in Christ.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace…”
— Galatians 5:22-23
📌 Everyday Example:
When others around you are stressed, your calm presence and quiet faith will stand out. That’s the kind of joy the world can’t explain—but wants to have.
I hope this REAL Reset is helpful to you!
