As vintage dealers, this is our time to shine. Holiday markets, festive displays, and cozy, memory-filled booths invite people to linger and shop. But before the rush begins, it’s time to pause, clear, and create something magical. If you’re ready to give your booth a beautiful holiday makeover that feels festive, organized, and full of vintage charm, I’ve gathered my step-by-step guide to resetting your vintage booth for Christmas — Southern Ivy style.
Before I start, here are some photos from my vintage booth BEFORE!
I’m going back to my post about Resetting Your Life to get focused on a RESET in my booth without getting overwhelmed.
R.E.A.L. Reset:
R – Reframe your thoughts to realize that God gives each one reward based on their actions. I have to remember the Christmas Season is for celebration of Christ’s birth and restoring family time to bring Him glory!
Refocus your mind on God’s truth. (Jer. 17:9-10)
E – Examine your heart to make sure that your booth and your actions in business reflect the true meaning of Christmas and that you don’t get caught up in the hustle and bustle and stress of only focusing on sales and followers!
Ask God to reveal what’s really going on inside. (Psalm 139:23-24:Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.)and ( Prov. 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (NIV)
A – Appreciate the good and continue the November theme of gratitude into December.
Be grateful and content with what God’s already given you. (1 Thess. 5:18)
L – Live in Faith, Peace & Joy
Walk with Jesus daily and let His joy shine through. (Gal. 5:22)
So here we go:
Resetting Your Vintage Booth for Christmas
A Southern Ivy Emporium Guide to Creating Holiday Magic
There’s something special about transforming your booth for the holidays — the twinkle lights, the scent of pine, and the nostalgia of vintage Christmas memories. Resetting your space with intention not only creates an inviting shopping experience, but it also inspires your customers to bring that same warmth home.
Here’s my step-by-step guide to resetting your vintage booth for a beautiful, profitable Christmas season.
Step 1: Begin with a Vision
Start with the feeling you want your booth to give. For Southern Ivy Emporium, that’s often vintage charm meets cozy Southern farmhouse — a blend of aged patina, greenery, and twinkle lights.
Choose a simple palette to guide your styling:
- Classic Christmas: Red, green, white, and touches of gold
- Winter Whites: Milk glass, silver, and fresh evergreens
- Rustic Farmhouse: Wood tones, plaid, and old-fashioned tin
A quick sketch or mood board helps you stay focused as you plan your reset.
Step 2: Clear and Clean
Before you can create Christmas magic, give yourself a blank canvas.
- Remove anything that doesn’t fit the holiday theme.
- Dust, sweep, and wipe every surface.
- Sort what you pull out into keep, discount, and pack away for January bins.
A fresh start sets the stage for a fresh season.
Step 3: Refresh and Repair
Take a few minutes to check your display pieces:
- Wipe mirrors and glass so they sparkle.
- Tighten wobbly shelves or furniture.
- Replace old tags with fresh, festive ones.
Details matter — especially when your booth reflects your brand.
Step 4: Rethink Layout and Flow
Think of your booth as a storybook — every display should invite customers deeper into the pages.
- Feature your showstoppers at eye level or in the center.
- Layer with height using risers, crates, or stacked vintage suitcases.
- Keep pathways open and the flow natural.
Your goal: Abundant but not crowded.
Step 5: Style with a Christmas Story
Now comes the fun part — decorating!
Blend everyday vintage with Christmas sparkle:
- Fill milk glass vases with pine and berries.
- Stack ironstone and silver for a holiday table vignette.
- Tie velvet or ticking stripe ribbon on antique keys, books, or jars for simple charm.
- Add vignettes that tell a story: a cocoa bar setup, a cozy farmhouse table, or a “Christmas morning” scene.
Think about how your customers might use your pieces — then show them!
Step 6: Set the Mood
Lighting is your silent salesperson.
- Use warm white string lights or fairy lights for glow.
- Add small lamps for cozy pockets of light.
- Tuck in battery candles for soft ambiance.
- A subtle seasonal scent (pine, cinnamon, or vanilla sachets) ties it all together.
Step 7: Add Signage and Branding
Keep your booth unmistakably you.
- Use chalkboards, tags, or hand-lettered signs with a touch of Christmas flair.
- Display your Southern Ivy Emporium name clearly — and include your social handles for those who love to follow.
Create a “Gift Ideas Under $25” section for easy shopping wins.
Step 8: Merchandise for the Holidays
Make it simple for customers to imagine gifting your finds.
- Group by theme — entertaining, décor, gifts, winter wardrobe.
- Mix price points for all budgets.
- Tie bundles with ribbon for a grab-and-go gift section.
- Keep tags readable and pricing consistent.
A tidy, cohesive look builds trust and makes buying easy.
Step 9: Step Back and Review
Once your booth is styled, step into the aisle and look at it with fresh eyes.
- Does it draw you in?
- Is there balance in color and height?
- Are there too many smalls crowding one space?
Make small adjustments until it feels just right. Then take photos for social media and future reference.
Step 10: Maintain and Refresh
Keep the magic alive all season:
- Restock weekly — full booths sell best.
- Replace sold items with similar-tone pieces to maintain flow.
In late December, start transitioning gently toward Winter Whites or New Year sparkle.
Final Thought:
Resetting your booth for Christmas isn’t just about decorating — it’s about creating a moment of nostalgia and warmth for everyone who walks in. When your space feels special, customers linger, connect, and buy with joy.
