Wisdom for Daily Living
1. Watch Your Words
Speak less, and only what’s helpful. More words can lead to gossip, misunderstandings, or regret. For outgoing types, this takes practice, but it’s worth the peace it brings.
“When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.”
— Proverbs 10:19
2. Lower Your Expectations of Others
High expectations of people often lead to disappointment. Focus on what you can control and trust God with the rest.
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
— Psalm 118:8
3. Let Your Success Speak for Itself
Work diligently in silence. You don’t need to prove anything to people when you know who you are in Christ.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.”
— Colossians 3:23
4. Stop People-Pleasing
People’s approval fades. Live by your values, not their opinions.
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God?”
— Galatians 1:10
5. Don’t Let Criticism Define You
Sometimes criticism is rooted in jealousy. Other times, it’s meant to refine us—not destroy us.
“Let the righteous smite me—it is a kindness.”
— Psalm 141:5
Take what’s useful. Discard the rest.
6. Rein in Your Emotions
Emotional reactions cloud judgment.
“A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise man quietly holds it back.”
— Proverbs 29:11
Pause, breathe, then respond.
7. Learn to Say “No”
You can’t be everything to everyone.
“Let your ‘Yes’ be yes, and your ‘No,’ no…”
— Matthew 5:37
Protect your time, energy, and peace.
8. Pursue Progress, Not Perfection
God never asked for perfection—just faithfulness.
“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion…”
— Philippians 1:6
